Shipping & Other General Information

Terms

Full payment with order. Iowa residents please include 7% state sales tax. All our plants are state-inspected and guaranteed true to name; however, we cannot be responsible for plant losses due to causes beyond our control after they are planted in your garden. We ship double fans or better on all daylilies except new introductions and those few where we have stated "Single Fans Only." If not satisfied with plants, return them with original labels within 5 days for refund.

Substitutes and Bonus Plants

Please send us a long list of acceptable substitutes, particularly when ordering plants designated "Limited". We like to send bonuses, and will try to select bonuses from your sub list, if stock permits.

Shipping and Handling

Daylilies and hosta will be shipped from mid-August to Oct. 1. Siberian irises will be shipped beginning in September, after danger of very hot weather is past. A selection of potted hosta, Siberians, and companion plants are available at the garden throughout the season. For UPS Ground Service (recommended for Midwestern states), please add $12.00 plus $1.00 per plant. For UPS Second-Day Air, please add $15.00 plus $1.25 per plant. If you are ordering plants for both spring and fall delivery, please include separate shipping and handling fees. UPS Second-Day Air is strongly urged for all shipments to the South, the East Coast, and west of the Rocky Mountains. Minimum mail order $35.00 plant total plus shipping (no minimum for pickup at garden). Iowa residents please add 7% sales tax. Please include a list of acceptable substitutes; we will try to use it to select bonus plants.

Discounts for Large Orders

Orders of $100-$249.99 (plant total only, excluding tax and shipping) may take a 5% discount; $250-$499.99, 10%; $500 or more, 15%. Discounts do not apply to New Iintroductions, Gardener's Specials or Bargain Basement daylilies.

Canadian Orders

This year we are again accepting Canadian orders. Please add $50.00 US per shipment for the required phytosanitary certificate. Canadian customers must agree to pay all shipping costs. Minimum Canadian order $250.00 (plant total only) payable in U.S. funds. Please contact us to make arrangements for shipping.

Wholesale prices are available. Please send request on company letterhead.

Directions to the Garden

From I-80 Exit 265 (Atalissa): Go south ¼ mile on Atalissa Road (gravel) to 310th St. (gravel). Turn right (west) on 310th St. and go exactly 1.0 mile until you reach Johnson Road (on the left). Do not turn right at Kelly Rd., where you will see a “Dead Ends” sign – continue straight (1/2 mile) at this point. At Johnson Rd., turn right into our private lane; you will see a large brown mailbox and a blue street number sign (“999”). We can accommodate no more than 4 cars at the house; other visitors can park in the field in front of the house or on the county road.

Daylily Gardeners Special.

If you just want some nice daylilies or other perennials and don't care about names, let us choose for you. Tell us your preferences for colors, large-flowered or mini, eyes, etc., or we'll pick a nice balanced selection. 6/$30.00, 12/$45.00 for vigorous, individually labeled, double-fan or larger daylilies. Please inquire about other perennials. No additional discounts on specials.

Gift Certificates

Looking for the perfect gift for that gardener on your list? Perennial plants are a gift that will give enjoyment for a long time -- and won't wind up in the next garage sale! A gift certificate will allow the recipient to select exactly the plant or plants he or she wants. We'll send a gift certificate (available in any amount of $25.00 or more), a current catalog, and your greetings for any occasion. If you prefer, we'd be happy to make a selection for you, or we'll send you the gift certificate and catalog so you can present the gift in person.
